dude, this is silly, 3 years in rc and u havent grow up an inch, think bout limitation, get a bigger picture, kmb is a government-funded, its ppls money.. do u expect them to offer u some silly drama, music or arts course just to make it more like any other "IB-school"

the problem is not them, its us, if everyone scored well, there's no problem at the first place, i.e. placement, i knew there used to be some problems, but im sure the teachers had tried their very best

know the things that u can change and those u cant.

"3 years in rc and u havent grow up an inch, think bout limitation, get a bigger picture, kmb is a government-funded, its ppls money.. do u expect them to offer u some silly drama, music or arts course just to make it more like any other "IB-school"

- It's becoz I spent 3 years in RC that I could see how stupid the management was in KMB. Even a med. institution whose burdened with hospital chores, researches and etc could manage well with teaching and student management. I know there's a huge difference between funding of RCSI and KMB but if other IB colleges could do it, why couldn't they have done it?

- I never expected them to offer "silly courses". Perhaps they should have thought about offering medical related courses of interest like psychology and human behaviour. Maths HL wasn't even necessary to enter most med. schools in the U.K and Ireland.

"the problem is not them, its us, if everyone scored well, there's no problem at the first place, i.e. placement, i knew there used to be some problems, but im sure the teachers had tried their very best"

No doubt the teachers tried their very best. But still it was tried in the wrong way. You can put all your effort and energy in trying to chop down a tree but if u don't use the correct technique u'll end up doing things unnecessarily. I dont' know who u are anonymous. Don't even know if ur in Ireland. Perhaps u should come here and see how well and open their management are. And don't talk about that problem of not scoring; I know at least 2 people who scored 38 but were sent to India while I knew sum others who scored 34 and went to U.K. And the average grade of maths HL was 5? Explain that pls. DOn't be talking about stastistical disrepancies coz the average is good enough to give u a general picture of the whole problem. You'd know this in Epidemiology and Pub. Health.

This is sumthing I believe I can change just by pointing it out. Why? Becoz people were responsible for it and people can change. I know my limitations. Perhaps u anonymous, should have recognized yours too in writing that comment coz in the end, u ended up being the defensive person of "they're right, u r wrong" whom I just described above. Thanks =)

Its funny nowadays how people are just spurting out their oppinions thinking that they are allowed to do this because of freedom of speech...they seldom are aware of what the consequences that comes with it...the biggest consequence is that, in turn, people are allowed to voice out their oppinions on you as well regardless of the negativity they carries...so here goes my thoughts on the matter...

To begin with...i do applaud you on the courage in raising the issue. However, there are two things that ticks me off with the whole post.

1st would be that there are no justifications to any of your critiques may it be regarding the teachers, admin or the placement system. Just random thoughts of yours flying around here and there. I know that you have all the justifications in your head but by not writing it, it makes the post a shit one ain't it. I say this because there will be more negavity that can come out of a writing such as this than good because its not been constructed very well. Negavity in the world = shit. (remember that any action has a responsibility burdened upon it)

2nd, not only are you giving off critiques of which there are no bases to it, you haven't even shed any ways on how to make it better or your thoughts on how it should have been. For me, quoting your words, "Malaysia tidak sekali-kali akan berubah jika individu-individu begini masih kekal di takuk pemikiran lama", I feel that it hits you right in the nose as well. You're falling into the category of those typical melayu that only knows how to criticize and once in a blue moon will they ever really care on the matter and try to give suggestions on how to improve it. Yet you've been overseas for three years. Irony?

I agree with anonymous, 3 years and you still haven't change the negative traits of you...you really like to see something on the surface and straight away confront it without thinking it thoroughly or think about ALL the people or situations involve. Have you ever thought about the practicality of your critiques on the freedom to choose the subject. As what anonymous is trying to tell you. The cost that goes behind it. The benefits for the long run. For me, the subjects in the KMB have taught me a lot but taught you very little. TOK teaches us to think something from every angle there is as to make wiser choices. Maths' greatest lesson is to make THE most accurate decisions as sometimes in life we only get one chance at something. And the other subjects have great lessons to teach us to incorporate into our lives until we breath our last breath. If only we think about it. As for the uni placement, you were the one who chose NZ in the first place. I don't know what your complaints are about the placement thingy but you also are to blame for your choices.

Lastly, I do agree there are some weaknesses or mistakes done in KMB. I suggest that you rewrite the post, the way a student of RCSI, an international student, a medicine student, a professional student would. With suggestion on how to make it better or what your thoughts are on how it should be or examples that they can follow. But hey, its just my suggestion

jzkk to zul for the very controversial article. first of all, tq to MCB for every single thing that you offered me especially the best group of teachers i have ever met. firstly, we have to admit we do a lot of mistakes. me myself, you, government and everyone. slowly we progress and try to improve. MCB cannot offer you everything. but it is u who has to suck every single thing the she can offer. we pay around RM 8000 per year for everything and yet i think it is worth it. unfortunately, mcb don't have the capability to cater all the needs of students. if u ask other students around the world that do IB, they might have what we dont have, but they might not have what we have.

we have to change our mentality. zul is right. i believe teachers in mcb have a first world mentality. dedication, motivation, love and everything. even some of the teachers don't agree with some stupid rule of mcb like outing pass and etc. don't expect others to perform, but please do expect me myself and you yourself to perform.

1.Saya rapat dgn Zul, dan saya faham niat zul menulis artikel ini hanya untuk meng-express his honest opinion(some of them are true).
If you know him(Zul) well, you will not feel offended.
Heehhe

i'm agree with theonceinawhilevisitor.

rephrase the entry coz it doesn't brings any good in this important issue.

another thing is that don't bother to compare other IB college with KMB, its unfair. Gov funded and the privately funded. what more if u want to compare RCSI (a private and renowned uni) with KMB.

cheers.

to my dearest bro,..
here's some of ur little bro's thought..eventhough i'm not an IB product and have no business here,i highly suggest and plea that you delete this post. The word 'bodoh' will most likely to offend many ( teachers, present students of mcb )...i think it is ok to post thoughts, opinions and etc.., but please do it considerately. Truth to be told, i was soo grateful the first time i was informed you were accepted to do medical course..Alhamdulillah.. :) ..let bygone be bygone...Even back in my days at matrix, everyone wanted to get involved in this critical course soo badly..At one point, things got stirred up when ppl who scored higher CGPA but did not get an A for Biology were able to do medicine ..but those who scored slightly lower CGPA with an A for Biology were turned down..what sets the two groups apart is math ..tp tu pun x jauh beza..bcoz each subject has different weightage..A friend who scored 3.89 pun x dapat placement utk farmasi.. See..it's difficult to cater for everyone's need..sometimes we can't expect everything to work idealistically...Mungkin pihak pentadbir x nampak ur rational points dan mungkin u urself x nampak their rational points.. everything has its own reasons and it cannot be 100% perfect.. Paper pun,..we're here praying for your success and safety there.. ..InsyaALLAH :)..focus on the future k..

Seems that my little brother is more matured and kind-hearted than I am. I give in. If even one more person comes forward and blurt out my post as offensive, I'll remove it. I promise. I never wanted to hurt anyone but I can't help but feel all those things that happened in MCB was unnecessary and could have been avoided had the proper funds and measures were put in place............Sorry.

discussion yg menarik.. i know zul too.. i know he didnt mean it.. cume kdg the choice of words maybe inappropriate and a bit offensive to some people..

well i guess everybody has their own opinion.

sekadar berkongsi pendapat..

aiyyooo.. ko tau tak ape akibatnye kalau post ko ni dibaca oleh cikgu2 kat kmb. kecik hati dieorg tau.. tak kire laa subjek ape yg dieorg ajar, walaupun subjek tu tak relevan dgn course medicine, tapi ape yg dieorg ajar tu still ilmu Allah & ko patut bersyukur..

Lagipun KMB tu under government & baru berape belas tahun wujud.. student2 die pun under sponsorship.. mmg laa selalunye ade kekurangan.. ko jgn laa nak compare ngan RCSI yg dah berpuluh2 tahun established tu.. bebudak IB negara2 lain tu pun most of them gune duit mak bapak n kolej2 dieorg tu mostly kolej2 private.. so, takde hal la dieorg nak pilih2 subjek..

Hmmm.. Aku rase baik ko delete or rephrase je post ni sblm ape2 kontroversi yg lg besar timbul.. tak berkat ilmu yg ko belajar kalau ko sakitkan hati cikgu2 tau. ingat tu..

satu lagi bende yg aku nak cakap. "think before u write" & "the world doesnt just revolve around u, think of other ppl as well". that what makes u a good blogger n a good person. ok?

Mungkin anda belum betul2 menyoal siasat pelajar2 IB dr kolej lain terutamanya yg private. Cuba tanya siapa yg crkan placement? sendiri2 rasanya. so kalu x dpt siapa yg bodoh?

Kaji betul2. kalau x silap semua calon2 wajib belajar bahasa ibunda sendiri. jd apa masalah? lainlah kalu KMB menawarkan kursus Punjabi A1 SL. Jd, kaji btol2. semak balik kurikulum IB disini. http://www.ibo.org/diploma/slideb.cfm

BRAVO ZUL!!!

ni nak mengumpat rcsi ni...if u want to know, rcsi was established around 1700. still until know, if you make close contact with the rcsi admin, i find it quit harsh on islamic society especially. one or two of the staff are racist as well. i think mcb will perform better if they got the same resource like rcsi.

These things happened in KMB and it's the truth. If you can't accept it, either u were not there or were simply ignorant:

1. Mismanagement. Eg: Timetables and classes missed, students complaining about food and hygiene quality and staffs getting into unruly arguments with fellow students. These are only the few ones.

2. Wrong concepts taught in classes. Anonymous 13, I know ur sumone from 218 and you study with me. Has Ronan Conroy not taught you enough about the truth in stastitical disrepancies? I will give only this example to cut short.

3. Average for Maths HL in our badge was 5 and Malay result were delayed for weeks without any definite news, just rumours flying around. Weren't you there anonymous 13? Still in denial?

4. I still remember Ms Loh promising us on the 1st day that I came to KMB; If you score above 35 and meet all the requirements of the sponsors, you'll get a place in the U.K, Ireland, Aust. and New Zealand. I guanrantee you. That's what she said I held those words on for two years working as hard as I could. What happened in the end? You tell me. You were fortunate enuf to get here. But what about the others who scored and met all the requirements and didn't get here? How did they feel?

Baseless accusations?

Lastly; anonymous 13, I know who u are and I hope I won't have to talk to you again in person. I hope you know what this means. BRAVO!

Anonymous said...

Ow My God. Things are getting personal between Zul & anonymous 13. Come on laa Zul.. Different ideas n ideology doesnt mean u have to be enemies, dont talk to each other or even to declare war. Sedangkan PAS & UMNO pun boleh bawak berbincang, inikan pulak ko & anonymous 13.

We sometimes need to accept other ppl's opinion. Kite bukan selalunye betul. Mmg laa kite kene tetap dgn pendirian kite, tapi kadang2 kite kene hormat n terima pendapat org lain. Like jhazkitaro had said: "the world doesnt just revolve around u. other ppl also exist".

so, cool down ok?? no more gado2.. it will make things uglier than it already is..

Anonymous said...

salam..
sorry..maybe i miss something.. why would delayed in our malay result has something to do with our teachers?

tu bukan mslh ib ke?

n about food hygiene and stuff.. teachers gak ke yg bersalah?

maaf tak kurang pengatahuan pasal perkara ni..

sesungguhnya orang-orang mukmin itu bersaudara;)

No war or emotions here. I wrote this 3 years on after KMB. After 3 years, the emotions were almost gone but the nice experience I've had here made KMB contrasted and stand out so much in terms of mismanagement and all the stuffs I've written. Remember, this is a blog, a place where experiences and thoughts are conveyed. Everyone is free to voice out opinions. So far I've not deleted any comments although clearly some people just can't accept the truth eventhough it happened. As long as there are no obscenities used, I'll keep the comments on.

One other thing to keep in mind is that I wrote this 3 years on. Had I wrote this just after I left KMB things would've been way much uglier.

To ex-econs:

Management and academic staffs (teachers) are two different sides. But in my original article I held both side equally responsible for things that I highlighted. And the food stuffs plus the Malay A1 results, yeah, that was a management problem not academic. I should have made things clear which side is responsible for every issue. Sorry.

The comments here are enough for me. In all honesty I just wished things were actually better in KMB. 3 years on I still hope things would change. The truth is I really don't know whether things have changed or not but feedbacks that I got from juniors suggest things might not have changed that much. I really can't say definitely.

However that hope of change persist and I realize change is never easy. Something valuable has to be sacrificed in order to gain sumthing else of equal value. In this case if it means sacrificing my relationship with the teachers there, being labelled as ungrateful or "tak reti bersyukur", I accept. Often times people will act once their feelings are touched either in the context of positivity or negativity i.e getting hurt. In this particular case, I couldn't think of a more positive way for change. Maybe that's the limitation on my thinking cap. I hoped those hurt by this post would realize that grave mistakes were done in KMB and the fact that we're all still discussing this 3 years on shows just how big those mistakes were.

Teachers, not every concept you taught me was wrong. A large majority of those were bullseyes in terms of accuracy. But if some of those were really stark in contrast at higher academia, I think it wouldn't hurt for you to get your facts right. I am still your student and I'm still progressing through academia. Please acknowledge this.

Assalamualaikum wbt

Kalau kita buat mcm tu, apa kurangnya kita dgn dia?

Baca artikel panas, mestilah hati jadi panas...

5)Mesej yang cuba aku smpaikan adalah, kalau nk tegur seseorang hantarlah email personal.lg sesuai aku rasa.tak pun, hantar mesej kt friendster pun boleh. Kalau kita rasa org yang ditegur itu betul2 perlu diubah, kita slow talk 1 on 1 pun ok.xyah post2 comment.

6)Aku mintak maaf sebab aku sndr tak hantar email teguran aku secara peribadi sb aku dapati byk gak anonymous kt sini + boleh dijadikan panduan di masa hadapan kalo komen aku terus melekat kt page ni. InsyaAllah

7)Aku mintak maaf sekali lagi sb tak sertakan identity aku. Ada orang mmg benci bab2 anonymous ni. Tp aku rasa aku terpaksa meng-anonymouskan diri aku sb aku takut ukhwah aku dgn rakan2 mungkin terjejas dengan coment aku ni.Bukan lah sb aku takut or nak berkata sesuka hati tanpa diketahui identity.Maafkan aku kalau teguran aku ni menginggung mana2 pihak.

Zul, sorry aku tambah comment ko lg 1.

Anonymous said...

nak juge tambah lg satu.

betul ler. nak tegur guna ler bahasa yang molek2. kalau cmni org yang dengar kritikan sure berapi. bukannya nak ikut, lg org nak buat ade la..

terguran berkhikmah ye lepas ni zul, tolong. =p

Anonymous said...

haaai.. zul2.. u have never changed.. dari dulu sampai skarang asyik panas baran je.. tak pernah nak pikir perasaan org lain.. cube laa skali skala calm down.. kalau nak nasihat org lain pun, gune laa cara yg berhikmah.. the word 'bodoh' is just too rude.. org yg dgr bukannye bertambah insap, tapi bertambah marah ade laa.. so, lain kali think deeply before u say or write something ok.. coz your words sometimes can hurt other ppl's feelings..

one more thing... i love kmb n all the teachers there.. pasal placement tu, ko ingat senang ke nak aturkan placement utk 300+ student.. cube ko letakkan diri ko jadi pengetua or sape2 je laa yg uruskan pasal placement.. then u know how hard the job is.. cakap mmg laa senang.. tapi ko taktau mcm mane susahnye dieorg nak settlekan bende tu..

peace..

Assalamualaikum wbt

1) Kita dok tgr2 Zul, kondem2 Zul, kritik2 Zul publicly mcm ni kita pk x apa dia rasa? Bayangkan ada sorang ni mmg x kenal Zul heart to heart then baca komen2 cm ni. Apa pandangan dia kt Zul?

2) Aku kenal sangat dgn Zul, kalo korang cakap dia x berubah lansung dari KMB aku 100% x setuju. Aku selalu dgn dia, aku tau dia berubah ke x. Dalam kekasaran ada kelembutan Zul yang tak ramai orang tahu.-sorry Zul i have to say this.

3) Betul, korang kata dia maybe ataupun telah pun melukai byk pihak dgn tulisan dia.Kita pun buat mcm tu balik kt dia, so kita pun apa kurangnya?.(sorry aku ckp mcm ni kt public gak. kalo korang bg emel personal boleh aku hantar pendapat aku personally)

Tp this is the best choice we have, instead of kita pendam rasa marah, hentam2 Zul cm ni.

7)Aku bukan nak backing Zul. Tp aku rasa sesi menghantar komen berbau hentamam pedas sebegini rupa x sesuai. Aku pun x rasa zul ni 100% betul or 100% salah.

Sorry tulis panjang2.

I really don't care if people criticize me if they're really saying the truth. Yeah, I do admit the way I conveyed this issue was like literally tearing certain people's hearts with a knife.
